Energy Density

Amount of metabolizable energy provided per unit mass or volume of food, commonly expressed in kilocalories per gram (kcal/g) or kilojoules per gram (kJ/g); this is metabolizable energy available to the organism after accounting for digestion and typical losses, not gross combustion energy measured by bomb calorimetry unless adjusted.
