Vacuum Packaging

A packaging process in which air is removed from a package before it is sealed so as to reduce oxygen-dependent chemical reactions and the growth of aerobic microorganisms, thereby extending product shelf life and altering storage requirements.

A packaging method that extracts air from a package before sealing so as to reduce oxygen concentration, limit aerobic microbial growth and oxidation reactions, decrease moisture transfer and thereby extend refrigerated shelf life and preserve product appearance and odor characteristics.
