Oxidative Stress

A cellular or tissue state in which production of reactive oxygen and/or nitrogen species exceeds the capacity of local antioxidant defenses and repair systems, causing oxidative modification of lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids and altering redox-dependent signaling.
