Metric Embedding Theory
Definition
The study of mappings between metric spaces that approximately or exactly preserve distances, quantifying distortion, bi-Lipschitz constants, and tradeoffs between target dimension, distortion, and algorithmic complexity; includes linear and nonlinear embeddings into Lp spaces, Hilbert spaces and finite-dimensional Euclidean spaces.
