Discourse Completion Task

A structured elicitation technique in pragmatics in which participants read or hear short situational prompts and produce a linguistic response (written or spoken) intended to perform a particular speech act; used to compare pragmatic strategies across speakers under controlled prompting while sacrificing some aspects of natural interaction.
