Wound Dehiscence

Partial or complete separation of the layers of a surgical incision or wound following closure, compromising tissue integrity and the intended healing process; may involve skin only or extend to fascia and deeper layers and is distinct from, though sometimes associated with, infection or anastomotic failure.
