Transceiver

A single physical unit that integrates both transmitter and receiver functions to send and receive electromagnetic (or optical/electrical) signals over a shared physical medium; may implement duplexing, local oscillators, modulation/demodulation and basic medium‑access mechanisms at the physical layer.
