Time–Bandwidth Uncertainty Principle

A quantitative relation that bounds how simultaneously concentrated a single finite-energy signal can be in time and in frequency: the product of a signal's effective time spread and its effective frequency spread has a nonzero lower bound (the numerical value depends on the precise definitions of ‘‘spread’’ used).
