Temporomandibular Joint

The synovial joint formed between the mandibular condyle and the temporal bone, including its articular disc, capsule, ligaments, innervation and vascular supply, that permits coordinated hinge (rotation) and translational (gliding) movements of the mandible required for mastication, speech and airway function.
