Syndemic Theory

A theoretical framework that characterises two or more co‑occurring epidemics as interacting synergistically through biological and social pathways such that their combined burden on health is greater than the sum of each epidemic alone, with social inequalities and structural drivers shaping both the occurrence and the interactions.
