Surface Microhardness

Localized measurement of a material surface’s resistance to plastic deformation obtained by microindentation (commonly Vickers or Knoop) under a specified load and dwell time, reported as a Vickers Hardness Number (VHN) or equivalent; result depends on indenter geometry, applied load, indentation time and surface preparation.
