Solder Joint Failure

The mechanical or electrical loss of intended functionality in a soldered connection caused by physical separation, crack formation, excessive increase in electrical resistance, corrosion, or embrittlement (including intermetallic compound growth) such that the joint no longer provides the required mechanical continuity or conductive path within its specified performance limits.
