Serviceability Limit State

The limit state concerning a structure's continued functionality, comfort, durability and appearance under normal (service) actions; it is violated when deformations, vibrations, cracking, tilting or other effects under characteristic service loads become unacceptable for the intended use even though the structure remains stable.
