Scattering Parameter (S-Parameter)

A frequency-dependent matrix of complex coefficients that characterizes a linear RF multiport by relating incident (forward) and reflected (backward) travelling-wave amplitudes at each port relative to a specified reference impedance Z0; element Sij equals the ratio of the wave emerging from port i to the wave injected into port j with all other ports terminated in matched loads.
