A nonsurgical periodontal debridement procedure that mechanically removes supra‑ and subgingival calculus and disrupts subgingival biofilm on crown and root surfaces, and that smooths root surface irregularities to reduce microbial reservoirs and promote resolution of inflammation and periodontal pocket reduction.
