Repeater

A device that receives a signal on a communication link, restores or reshapes that signal (by amplification, retiming, regeneration or filtering) and retransmits it so as to extend the usable reach of the link; implementations range from simple analog amplifiers to regenerative digital repeaters that reconstruct symbol timing and amplitude.
