A statistical model for the envelope of a narrowband received signal in a multipath environment with many independent scatter components and no dominant line‑of‑sight; under the central limit condition the complex baseband sum is modeled as a circular complex Gaussian random variable and the signal amplitude follows the Rayleigh probability density.
