Principle of Veracity

The ethical obligation for clinicians and health organizations to provide truthful, accurate, and sufficiently complete information to patients and relevant stakeholders in a manner intelligible to them, so that recipients can make informed decisions; this obligation is qualified by considerations of capacity, appropriateness of timing, potential for harm, and legally permissible limits.
