Piston Rod

A slender rod that connects a piston to another mechanism or linkage, transmitting axial (linear) force and motion from the piston head to the driven or driving element; in hydraulic or steam cylinders it passes through the cylinder end and must accommodate sealing and bearing arrangements against cylinder walls.
