Pilot Symbol Insertion

Embedding known reference symbols at designated positions within a transmitted frame or signal so that a receiver, which also knows the reference values and positions, can estimate time-varying channel properties (amplitude, phase, delay, frequency offset), perform synchronization, and support equalization or tracking algorithms.
