Pilot-Aided Channel Estimation

A channel estimation method in which known pilot symbols (prearranged reference signals) are inserted into a transmitted waveform so that the receiver can compare received pilots to their known values and derive the channel's complex gain or impulse/frequency response for coherent demodulation or equalization.
