Perfectly Matched Layer

An artificial absorbing layer appended to a computational domain that attenuates outgoing waves with minimal reflection across the interface, typically implemented via complex-coordinate stretching, anisotropic damping, or impedance-matched formulations (commonly abbreviated PML).
