Percolation Theory

The probabilistic theory that studies connectivity and cluster formation in random media by occupying sites or bonds with given probabilities and analyzing the resulting graph of connected components, often to model transport, flow, or failure.

A mathematical framework that characterizes how local connectivity between elements in a disordered medium produces macroscopic connected clusters and threshold behaviour for transport (e.g., fluid flow, electrical conduction) through porous or fractured materials.
