Paravalvular Leak

Abnormal blood flow that bypasses a prosthetic heart valve by passing between the implanted device (or its sewing ring) and the native annulus or tissue—caused by incomplete seal, tissue injury, calcification, malposition, or suture/device failure—and manifesting clinically as regurgitation, hemolysis, or hemodynamic compromise depending on severity.
