Parapet

A low protective barrier or short wall placed at the edge of a roof, balcony, terrace or other elevated platform primarily to prevent falls, provide a line‑of‑sight screen for rooftop equipment, and sometimes to contain roof edge drainage; it may be constructed as a masonry, framed or parapet‑type wall and can form part of the building envelope or façade.
