Narrative Grammar

A theoretical framework that models the structure of narratives in terms of schematic roles (e.g., protagonist, goal, obstacle), temporal sequencing, and causal relations; it treats narrative competence as the ability to map events onto recurrent narrative schemas that guide comprehension and generation.
