Narrative Analysis

A qualitative method that examines the structure, content, performance, and function of personal or collective stories to understand how people construct meaning, identity, sequence events, and negotiate agency; analysis attends to narrative form (plot, temporality, voice), rhetorical devices, and the social contexts that shape storytelling.

A method for identifying and interpreting the structures, sequencing, temporal ordering, roles, and functions of storytelling within texts or accounts—focusing on how events are selected, arranged and narrated to produce particular meanings, identities or explanations in a given social or communicative context.
