Medium Access Control

The set of protocols and mechanisms (typically at the data‑link sublayer) that govern how multiple nodes detect, arbitrate and coordinate access to a shared transmission medium, including framing, addressing for link‑level delivery, collision handling or avoidance, and local arbitration or scheduling rules.
