Lenz's Law

A rule that determines the direction of current induced by a changing magnetic flux: the induced current (or induced magnetic moment) flows so as to oppose the change in magnetic flux that produced it. Operationally, it is the sign convention embodied by the negative in Faraday's law and enforces the direction of induced electromagnetic effects consistent with energy conservation.
