An intentional, iterative practice of reading sacred scripture slowly and receptively in four related movements—reading (lectio), meditating on what the text evokes (meditatio), responding in prayer (oratio), and resting in contemplative attention (contemplatio)—aimed at eliciting personal spiritual insight and a dispositional response rather than producing academic exegesis.
