Koch's Postulates

A classical experimental framework comprising criteria intended to link a specific microorganism to a specific infectious disease: the agent should be present in every case of the disease, isolatable and grown in pure culture, cause the disease when introduced into a susceptible host, and be recoverable from that experimentally infected host.
