Intumescent Fireproofing

A passive fire‑protection system comprising a coating or filler that, when exposed to elevated temperatures, undergoes a chemical expansion (intumescence) to form an insulating char layer that reduces heat transfer to the protected substrate (steel, timber, composite), thereby delaying the substrate's temperature rise and loss of structural capacity.
