Interprofessional Collaboration

A cooperative process in which health professionals from two or more disciplines engage in sustained, mutually respectful planning, shared decision‑making, and coordinated delivery of care toward common, patient‑centred goals while acknowledging distinct professional expertise and accountability.

Coordinated, negotiated and interdependent work by professionals from different occupational backgrounds to achieve shared goals, involving explicit role definitions, mutual communication, joint decision‑making and mechanisms for resolving disputes; distinct from mere co‑location, sequential referral or uncoordinated multidisciplinary activity.
