Vortex Generator

A small passive aerodynamic protuberance or vane mounted on an external surface that generates streamwise vortices which transport higher-momentum fluid from the outer flow into the near-wall boundary layer, thereby energizing the boundary layer and delaying or reducing flow separation under an adverse pressure gradient.
