Three Rs

An ethical and methodological framework for animal use in research and testing that prioritises three strategies: Replacement (use of non‑animal methods or less sentient organisms), Reduction (use of the minimum number of animals necessary to achieve scientific objectives), and Refinement (modification of procedures to minimise pain, suffering and improve welfare).
