Synchronization

Set of processes that align timing, frequency and phase references between transmitter and receiver (including symbol timing, carrier phase/frequency, and frame boundaries) so that waveform samples correspond to intended symbol instants and coherent detection is possible; synchronization may be achieved via pilots, preambles, training sequences, or blind estimation methods.
