Superstrate Influence

The influence exerted by a socially dominant, higher‑prestige, or incoming language (the superstrate) on the vocabulary, structural patterns, or discourse practices of another language during situations of prolonged contact, often mediated by asymmetrical power relations and bilingualism favoring the superstrate.
