A class of manufacturing processes that produce finished parts by removing material from a solid workpiece using controlled cutting, milling, turning, routing, or similar tool-based operations driven by numerical control; characterized by subtractive removal as the primary shaping mechanism and by constraints imposed by tool geometry, fixturing, and cutting parameters.
