Subscriber Identity Module

A secure element—removable card or embedded credential (e.g., SIM/UICC/eSIM profile)—that stores subscriber identity and authentication credentials used to authenticate and authorize access to a mobile operator’s network and to hold subscription parameters. It separates the subscriber’s credentials from the device hardware.
