Structure–Property Relationship

A systematic association between a material's or molecule's structural features (atomic arrangement, bonding, morphology, defects) and its measurable physical or chemical properties (mechanical, electronic, thermal, optical, chemical reactivity).

A reproducible, causal link whereby a material's internal arrangement (microstructure, phase morphology, defects, texture, and mesoscale architecture) quantitatively or qualitatively determines its macroscopic physical, chemical, or mechanical properties and performance under specified conditions.
