Status Inconsistency

A social process in which an individual or group occupies two or more social positions that confer incompatible levels of prestige, power, or material resources along different evaluative dimensions (for example, high education but low income), producing comparative strain in interactions, identity negotiation, or efforts to reorder social standing.
