Stanza

A grouped set of lines within a poem that forms a recurring metrical, syntactic, or rhetorical unit used to organize thought, sound, and pacing; stanzas may be defined by a fixed line count and pattern (formal stanza) or by spacing and thematic closure (open or variable stanza).
