Soil Nailing

A ground-stabilization technique that reinforces slopes or excavations by installing closely spaced, typically inclined or near-horizontal tensile elements (steel bars or tendons) grouted into predrilled holes and combined with facing and drainage to create a composite retaining mass.

A slope and excavation reinforcement method that stabilizes an existing soil face by installing closely spaced, typically slender steel bars or tendons (‘nails’) into pre‑drilled holes or driven, then grouting them and applying a facing; nails work primarily by developing axial and shear resistance and confining the soil mass to increase overall stability.
