Rule-Following Paradox

A skeptical philosophical problem (famously associated with Wittgensteinian discussions) that questions how the mere specification of a rule determines its application in novel or marginal cases: the paradox asks what justifies treating one interpretation of a rule as the correct one rather than another when the rule's text underdetermines its application.
