Plein Air Painting

A painting method in which the artist executes (or begins) a work outdoors, directly observing the subject and the immediate atmospheric and lighting conditions in order to capture transient effects of light, color, and weather; the practice emphasizes direct sensory engagement with the scene rather than exclusive reliance on memory or studio references.
