Pidginization

A sociolinguistic process in contact situations whereby speakers of different native languages develop a reduced, variable, and functionally limited contact variety (a pidgin) to achieve specific intergroup communicative needs; pidgins typically have simplified morphology, limited lexical scope, and no native speaker community at origin.
