An integrative modelling approach that combines pathogen genetic sequence data (phylogenies) with epidemiological models (e.g., coalescent or birth–death frameworks) to infer transmission history, changes in effective population size, and migration or spread over time, subject to sampling and evolutionary-rate constraints.
