Light-driven chemical and physical deterioration of materials caused by absorption of ultraviolet and visible photons, producing irreversible changes such as bond cleavage, photooxidation, loss or alteration of chromophores, embrittlement, or surface photo–chemical modification that degrade appearance and/or structural integrity in artworks, textiles, polymers and organic media.
