Periprosthetic Joint Infection

Infection that involves the tissues and surfaces surrounding a joint prosthesis and/or the prosthetic components themselves, typically characterized by microbial colonization of the periprosthetic space or implant surface (often with biofilm formation), and which usually requires combined surgical and antimicrobial management to eradicate.
