A bone fracture occurring adjacent to an orthopedic implant or prosthesis that either compromises implant fixation or is influenced by the presence, design, or fixation method of the implant; periprosthetic fractures include intraoperative and postoperative events and are classified by location relative to the implant and implant stability.
